Glo recently slashed their data plans by 50% unannounced which caused sadness among her customers. However, it just unveiled a new offer that eases the sadness of her subscribers.

GLO 16gb offer

The offer involves a mini GLO MiFi router coupled with 16 gigabytes of data for just N16,000. Technically, the MiFi is pretty much free of charge, considering the worth of the free data bundle, Globacom stated.

If Glo's network quality is good in your area, then this offer is perfect for you.

The Glo 4G MIFI router can connect up to 15 devices at once, including Smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops. The Glo MiFi also adapts itself to offices and events venues, being able to beam the Glo 4G wireless internet signals over a wide radius.

Upon activation “you will get the 16GB and it will be spread over 12 months”. Another added advantage of the Glo 4G MiFi is the power of Glo’s 4G network which comes with high speed internet service backed up by Glo1, the company’s transatlantic submarine cable.

If you are interested in the offer, visit a GLO office close to you and get one.

9Mobile Has a New Owner: And The Winner Is!!

Over the past couple months, we've all been glued to the war between several companies to acquire 9mobile after it was abandoned by its previous owners over a several debt issue.
9mobile new owner

Initially, 16 companies were interested in acquiring 9mobile, however along the line many were dropped leaving five final bidders in December and then two more were dropped leaving Globacom, Teleology and Smile.
(Bharti Airtel dropped out because they believed that whoever acquire 9mobile would be acquiring a huge debt)
Later on, Globacom was dropped leaving Teleology and Smile in the final round.
Then finally, Teleology Holdings Limited emerged as the overall winner through a game of numbers, as they offered over $500 Million against Smile's $300 Million bid.

According to a staff of 9mobile:
“this news is like a double whopper burger for us. I can tell you there is an air of jubilation amongst the staff of 9mobile now. We did not want any of the existing operators to acquire 9mobile as they would end up sacking people and throwing people into the unemployment market under the guise of right sizing the business.”
Although I really hoped GLO won the bid, I guess we just have to watch and see if Telelogy is a good new owner.

Glo Drops Out Of 9mobile bid As Final two Companies Emerge

The final two companies involved in 9mobile bid has emerged and contrary to public opinion, GLO didn't make the cut.
Before now, GLO was seen as the best match, plus GLO subscribers were hoping that their beloved company won the bid so that they could use 9mobile existing tech and broadband to improve their poor connectivity. I hoped for the same thing too but it seems we have all been disappointed as GLO didn't reach top two.
9mobile bid

The last two companies remaining in the race are Smile Telecom Holdings and Teleology Holdings Limited and interestingly, both companies have former MTN CEOs leading them. Smile has Ahmad Farroukh and Teleology Holdings Limited has Adrian Wood both ex-Mtn CEOs.

Adrian Wood of Teleology Holdings was the second CEO of MTN Nigeria, he lasted 2 years in the said position before heading on to become Group Managing Director of Daily Times Nigeria.

Ahmad Farroukh joined MTN 18 months after Adrian left and is currently Group Executive Director for Smile Telecom Holdings.

According to records, Ahmad had a better running than Adrian during their tenure as Ahmad Farroukh increased MTNs customer base to 40 million subscribers and achieved a healthy margin of 62% between July 2006 and April 2011.

A table has been provided listing the abilities and strengths of both companies, view below;

Judging by the table above, Smile is seen as the better competitor however if there is one thing this bid for 9mobile has it is that nothing is certain.
Stay tuned to see matters as they unfold and to see the final winner of the 9mobile bid.
