How To Send Android Apps And Other Unsupported Files Through Whatsapp

A few months back, whatsapp allowed sending documents on the app and last month they added support for gifs in the beta version of the app.
Despite all these improvements, there are still a lot of important file formats that are unsupported like Android apks, ico, jar, cab, exe to mention a few.

Android apks are one of the most important, most shared files so whatsapp not supporting still makes no sense to me.
Because of this, a lot of people have depended on whatsapp's rival - Telegram to send and receive Android apps online. However since most people are not on Telegram, this isn't so effective .

In this post, I'll be explaining how you can send Android apps on whatsapp.
To send android apps on whatsapp, you need to have the raw file of the app.

If you don't have the raw file of the app, you can get it by following the simple steps below;

HOW TO GET THE RAW FILE OF AN ANDROID APP

All Android phones come pre-installed with a Backup and Restore app, check your app drawer you will see 'Backup and Restore app' already installed on your phone.

Open it and click on Application, all your installed Applications will load up with all of them Marked. untick Select All, find the app you want to Backup, Tick it and tap on Backup to SD Card.

Go to your SD card > Backup > App, you will see the app there.

How to send apps on whatsapp

Now, rename the file from APP-name.apk to APP-name.txt e.g candy crush.apk to candy crush.text. Now to share the file with your friend, launch your Whatsapp and go to the friend or group you want to share the app or file to. Click on the Share button, click on Document, then find the folder you renamed file or app
Then tap to SHARE.

How to send apps on whatsapp

The file will be sent as a document. The person that you sent the file/app to will have to rename the file back to its original file format before you renamed it.

The recipient will locate the file/app in SD Card > Whatsapp > Media > Whatsapp Documents > Received. Here, the person will have to rename the file back to the original extension. For example: Candy crush.txt to candy crush.apk. Then you can now install it.

I focused more on sharing Android apps on whatsapp but you can also send other unsupported file like exe, cab and others using the same method.

Four Unhealthy Charging Practices That YOU Do

Smartphones are your best friends but when they have bad batteries they can be really frustrating.

Not many people know that how you charge your smartphones battery affects it on the long run. If you charge it wrongly, you are likely to notice a drop in its performance.

How to charge your battery

Charging your smartphone in the wrong way could result in charging for long hours and getting only minutes of usage.... It can be that bad, that's why you need to take care of your battery by charging your phone in the right way.

The following charging practices can damage your battery;

Charging Overnight:- This particular practice have raised a lot of arguments, some people believe it doesn't affect your battery health and some say it does.
It is 'unwise' to charge your phone through the night. Regularly charging your phone overnight puts a strain on your battery and this degrades the battery.

Charging From 0 - 100% At Once:- This is one thing that almost everybody is guilty of. You have a dead phone, 'NEPA' bring light and you immediately plug your phone in and leave it there till it reaches 100%. Even though this seems harmless, charging for long periods of time damages your battery.

8 Tips To Extend Battery Life Of Smartphones

Completely Draining Your Battery:-To get the most out of your battery, you should try to keep it above of 50 percent as much as possible. Going from a full charge to empty is really bad for your battery. It's advisable to do one full discharge about once a month for "calibration," but don't do it all the time.

Using Wireless Chargers:- Wireless charging can be really convenient, but it has its disadvantages. Wireless chargers generate waste heat. And wasted energy heat can really damage your battery. Standard plug-in charging keep your battery in better shape.

Wireless Charging
I have seen and heard of a lot of people complain that when they bought their phones, the batteries lasted long but over time it begins to degrade. Doing these things are what causes it, so try as much as possible to avoid doing them.

This Case Allows You To Run Android OS On iPhones

For years, Android and iOS fans are always arguing over which mobile OS they think is the best. Earlier this year, developer Nick Lee saw a way to end these fighting, creating a case that allows you to run Android OS on your iOS device.
The case contained an enclosed circuit board running a modified version of Android Marshmallow, combined with an app that allows the iPhone to boot the Android OS.

Now, a Chinese company Haimawan has taken Nick Lee's project a step further, with the launch of their new MESUIT case.
Like Lee’s version, the MESUIT case contains hardware that runs a custom version of the Android OS, and uses an app to allow the iPhone to display it. The MESUIT case also has an external battery (either 1,700mAh or 2,500mAh) and an extra 16GB of storage space. The case also allows you to use  second Nano SIM on the iPhone.

Run Android OS On iPhone

Haimawan’s MESUIT case is available for sale in China from Jijia’s website for ¥999.00 (approximately $150) for the iPhone 6 / 6S model, and ¥1099.00 (approximately $165) for the larger iPhone 6 Plus / 6S Plus.
It is not yet announced if the MESUIT case will be available for sale outside China.

Former king of Mobile phones Nokia is ready to make a comeback to the smartphone scene with two new Android devices running Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of this year.

The smartphones MAY come with 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch QHD screens, along with fingerprint scanner and really impressive cameras, if you have used a Nokia device you'll know their cameras work magic.

Both Nokia Android devices will be released before the end of the year or early next year.

Elephone Is Making A Samsung S7 Clone

There is a chinese saying that says "The greatest compliment you can pay a competitor is to copy its success".
Popular chinese smartphone maker, Elephone has decided to take this proverb literally and has come up with a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge copy.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge copy

If the images shared on Elephone's Facebook page is anything to go by then we should be expecting a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge clone from Elephone real soon.

Elephone S7

There are a few differences however: The camera on the Elephone S7 is located on the top left corner while it is centered on the Samsung S7.
Also, the volume and power of the Elephone S7 is on the right side while it is found on the left side of the Samsung S7 Edge.

Elephone S7 clone

The hardware is also different, the Elephone S7 comes with a MediaTeK Helio X25 chip while the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge comes with Exynos 8890 or Snapdragon 820 in its various models.

The price of the Elephone S7 is quite attractive, its price starts at $99.99(for the lowest variant) and ends at $189.99 for the top-end variant.

More photos of the Elephone S7:

From the images above, you can't not see the resemblance between the Elephone S7 And Samsung S7 (They even stole the name too.)

The photo posted by TechDroider only shows the screen while the design remains secret.

Htc Marlin Nexus device

The photo confirms that the smartphone is running the recently announced Android 7.0 Nougat.

The HTC Marlin is likely to feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and 4GB RAM. The Marlin is rumored to be the first Nexus device to come with 128GB internal storage space.

The HTC Marlin features the same 12MP image sensor seen on last year's Nexus 6P, The front camera is said to be an 8-megapixel camera.

Other rumours suggest that the device will have a metal unibody design and a fingerprint sensor at the back with support for Nexus imprint.

HTC Marlin is likely to have a 3,450mAh battery. Google could launch the HTC-made Nexus smartphone in October which could also be the public launch date of Android Nougat.

How To Get 9GB For N2000 On MTN

A while back, MTN slashed all their data plan prices and introduced a lot of cheap data plans. However it seems MTN has more goodies in store for us.

MTN unveiled this plan at Africa's Biggest tech event in Lagos-Nigeria by TechPlus.

Before now, N2000 gives you 3.5GB data, as if that wasn't good enough, MTN now offer a 100% more data at the same price. Meaning you get 7GB of data for just N2000. You like it, don't you?

Mtn 7GB for N2000

How To Get This Plan?

  1. Recharge your MTN line with N2000.
  2. Send 2016 to 131
  3. You'll receive a message saying that you have been credited with 7GB on Tech+ 100% Dealzone.

Mtn 7GB for N2000

You must be wondering, that's just 7GB but I said 9Gb, right? Here's how to get the additional 2GB to make a total 9GB.
It is pretty simple, in this post I told about WowWeekend a weekend promo that gives you free data on every recharge.
When you recharge N200, you get 100MB for free and when you recharge N500 and above, you get 1GB For free.

So when you recharge N2,000 you’ll get free 2GB usable from Friday to Sunday. You can then use your N2000 to get 7GB of data making it 9GB.

How To Get A Verified Twitter Account

For years, Twitter users have complained and even begged for the social network to verify their accounts.

Before now, verified accounts have only been given out to celebrities, sports stars, journalists, and other popular people the company deems worthy of having their accounts verified.

Twitter is now giving everyone the chance to get verified on the network.

Get verified twitter

However, there are conditions.

Twitter says it will consider accounts of users in following areas;
  • Music
  • Acting
  • Fashion
  • Government
  • Politics
  • Religion
  • Journalism
  • Media
  • Sports
  • Business
  • Other key interest areas
It will also be verifying brands within the same areas.
If you fall into any of the listed categories, you will need to have the following;
  1. A verified phone number
  2. A confirmed email address
  3. A bio
  4. A profile photo
  5. A website
  6. A birthday set.
  7. And your account must be public.

Applicants will also need to explain why they think they are worthy to be verified and, Twitter says, you MAY be required to show a copy of a government-issued ID to confirm your identity.

If you application gets declined, you can re-apply with the same account in thirty days.

So, if you are that interested on having the famous blue tick, submit a request using this form, and Twitter will respond via email.

Infinix Note 3 Coming Soon

Infinix is really bringing IT this year, we've had the Hot 3, Infinix XBand and there are currently rumors of Infinix Hot S which is said to be packing impressive specs.

While we are still waiting on the launch of Infinix Hot S in three days time, a leak photo of Infinix Note 3 (Infinix X601) emerges.

Infinix Note 3

Normally, whenever Leaked images of a device starts showing up, it means the launch is real close. What this means is that we should expect the Infinix Note 3 anytime soon.

In terms of design, the infinix Note 3 X601 looks similar to the upcoming Infinix Hot S with an all metallic body with a fingerprint scanner at the back.

Judging from the image of the Infinix Note 3 above, it appears Note 3 will most likely be a 5.5 inch device which is a bit smaller than its predecessor(Note 2) which had a 6 inch screen. Since all Infinix Notes are packing large battery capacity,  I’m guessing the Infinix Note 3 will have a battery capacity of 4000mAh or more.

For now, all information about the Infinix note 3 is still secret.
We'll have to wait a while to get more info.

How To Use Airtel Blackberry Plan N1,000 For 3GB On Android & PC

This plan has been around for a while now, in the previous post I talked about it and someone on whatsapp asked about it so I'm posting it for those that don't know about it.

What makes this plan better and worth considering is that it doesn’t zap like the normal Airtel Blackberry plan. It plan is meant to work on Blackberry devices only but with the steps I'll show you, you'll be able to use it on your Android devices.

In a post I wrote last year, I showed you how to use Glo blackberry plan on your Android device. This is something similar, but this is somewhat better because GLO BIS now ZAPS. If you used Glo blackberry plan on your Android, this tutorial will not be too difficult to understand because it’s not different from what you already know.
Airtel 3GB For 1k

Advantages Of Airtel BIS Plan
  • Airtel Network quality is better in most locations, unlike GLO.
  • It is cheaper than glo blackberry plan.
  • It doesn’t zap like other Airtel data plan.
  • It is easy to activate.
All you need to do this trick is a Blackberry 10 IMEI and knowledge of changing IMEI.
If you don't know how to change your phone's imei number, check this post here.

Procedure
  1. Add three random numbers to this Blackberry 10 IMEI 356760051192.
  2. Go to this site: http://imei-number.com/imei-validation-check/ or use Imei analyser
  3. Input the randomly generated 15 digits e.g 356760051192123 and validate IMEI.
If the random digit you chose is correct, it will show IMEI number is valid. But if it is incorrect it will show IMEI number is not valid! And the valid IMEI will be displayed below it.

How To Put The IMEI Into Your Phone?

If you don't know how to change your imei, read this post here.

How To Activate the plan?
  1. Subscribe to the Airtel Blackberry Plan 3GB for N1,000 by dialing *431#

How To Opt Out Of Airtel 2G Data Plan

Last month, Airtel introduced two plans 2GB for N200 and 6GB for N500 however they only work on 2G network.
I believed it was a cool plan and thought I could manage the terribly slow speed... Guess what, I couldn't!!

Opt out of Airtel 2g data plan
I tested it by subscribing for the N200 plan and what I experienced was just.... No words for it.
I could only load one page in all the 14 days... I mean that literally.. It doesn't load at all... It felt browsing with 0.15G not 2G.

Then I decided the suffering was too much to bear and wanted to opt out but that was impossible.

I also learnt that most people that subscribed for this plan are unable to subscribe for Airtel BIS 3GB for N1000 which a lot of of people have been using because it doesn't zap like other Airtel data plans.

Today, I came across what seemed like a solution in yomiprof.com new post. I confess, I haven't tried it to confirm if it works because I abandoned my Airtel Sim now I can't find it.

How To Opt Out of Airtel 2GB For N200 Data Plan?

  1. Dial *482*4# and u will receive invalid request message.
  2. Then reply with *
  3. Now, reply with 3.

You should receive a confirmation message saying:
"you have cancelled your 2G data subscription"

This should help you opt you out of Airtel 2G plan.
Try it and let us know if it worked for you or not.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Will Come With A Dual Camera Setup

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is one of the top selling smartphones for the company ever since it launched. And now, the Chinese company is already working on its successor the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

Xiaomi redmi note 4
The image above is a supposed leak for the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and it shows the Redmi Note 4 with a dual camera setup.
The LED flash is placed between the cameras and the MI logo is located towards the bottom.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 features a metal unibody design, visible antenna bands at the top and bottom of the device, and there is no fingerprint scanner on the back side of the device so if there will be one, it will most likely be integrated into the physical home button on the front, same as the MI 5.

Xiaomi redmi note 4

Unfortunately, the specs of the Xiaomi redmi note 4 was not Leaked along with the image but according to a reliable source, the Xiaomi redmi note 4 will have a screen slightly larger than 5.5 inches(maybe 5.7, just a guess), it will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 652 SoC and will have 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage.

This is all we know about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 so far but I will update you as the details unravel.

Nigeria Remains Forgotten As PayPal Allow Zimbabweans Receive Funds via PayPal

In a recently released list, PayPal ranked Nigeria 3rd in Mobile shopping(even more than USA), India was 2nd and China 1st.
Also, Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa with over 200 million citizens. Despite all these facts, PayPal has decided to snub Nigeria and move over to Zimbabwe to allow Zimbabweans receive funds via PayPal.

PayPal in Nigeria

In 2014, PayPal launched it services in Nigeria at the same time it was also launched in Zimbabwe and a few other African Countries. At the time of launch, PayPal services in these countries were limited as users could only send funds but weren't not able to receive.

This action by PayPal killed a lot of business ideas and is currently affecting the customer base of many Nigerian businesses. But we had no choice, we had to live with it.

But something happened a couples of days ago, PayPal enabled the receive fund features in Zimbabwe allowing them to send and receive funds through PayPal.

I have no idea why PayPal would do something like that. In business, you stay more committed to your larger customer base but that is not happening in this case.

On the bright side, PayPal enabling the receive funds option in Zimbabwe could mean that Nigeria would be next. Let's see how things turn out.

Top Ten Fastest Smartphones Of 2016 - AnTuTu

Speed is one of the most important thing people need in a smartphone. Everybody wants phone that responds immediately it is pressed.

AnTuTu, creator of the popular AnTuTu benchmarking tool has released a list of the ten fastest smartphones released in the first six months of 2016.

Ten Fastest Smartphones Of 2016

Chinese phone makers are clearly leading the way, taking seven of the top ten spots, with the remaining three places occupied by the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and iPhone 6S and iPhone SE.

The number one position is held by the recently released OnePlus 3 which has 6GB RAM.
The iPhones 6S and iPhone SE are the devices with the lowest RAM space, with both devices having just 2GB RAM, I think it's really impressive that they outrun numerous Android devices with more RAM size.

Samsung has to put in work if it wishes to become the number one with its upcoming Galaxy Note 7.

Google Working On Two Upcoming Nexus Smartwatches

We are used to hearing/seeing Google Nexus Smartphones but Nexus smartwatches? That's a new one.

According to Android Police, Google is currently working on two smartwatches codenamed Angelfish and Swordfish and they would be launched later this year.

Right now, there isn't much details about the nexus smartwatches but this is all we know so far;

Google smartwatches

This is what the Google smartwatches might look like

Swordfish

Swordfish is the smaller of the two smartwatches. Design-wise, Swordfish is expected to have just one button, the watch has a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 10.6 mm.
The Swordfish would not have as much specs as the Angelfish. The Swordfish will not support LTE and GPS but it will support Google Assistant

Angelfish

The Angelfish smartwatch would be larger than the Swordfish smartwatch and will reportedly look similar to the Moto 360 (2015). The Angelfish smartwatch will have three circular buttons; one large crown surrounded by two smaller buttons. The Angelfish smartwatch is quite thick with a thickness of 14 mm and a diameter of 43.5 mm.
The Angelfish smartwatch is expected to come with GPS, LTE, and a heart rate monitor all running on Android Wear 2.0. Additionally, the Angelfish smartwatch is expected to come in silver, titanium and rose gold variants. The Angelfish smartwatch will also support Google Assistant.

The reduced battery capacity is most likely responsible for the reduced weight, the Gionee M5 had a battery capacity of 6020mah.

Blackberry Ends Production Of Classic Devices

As blackberry is gradually moving closer and closer to extinction, a new announcement by Blackberry's C.O.O and General Manager for devices has further sped up the process.

Blackberry stop producing classic

Ralph Pini, Blackberry's C.O.O and General Manager for devices in a blog post said that;
Sometimes it can be very tough to let go. For BlackBerry, and more importantly for our customers, the hardest part in letting go is accepting that change makes way for new and better experiences.

He continued saying;
To keep innovating and advancing our portfolio, we are updating our smartphone lineup with state of the art devices. As part of this, and after many successful years in the market, we will no longer manufacture BlackBerry Classic.

For many years, Classic (and its BBOS predecessors) has been in our portfolio. It has been an incredible workhorse device for customers, exceeding all expectations. But, the Classic has long surpassed the average lifespan for a smartphone in today’s market.

We are ready for this change so we can give our customers something better – entrenched in our legacy in security and pedigree in making the most productive smartphones.

Whatever You Do, DO NOT Install FLASH KEYBOARD

Android is an open-source OS meaning people can tweak the OS and change a few things. While this is my favorite feature of Android, sometimes it might work against you as it also makes it easier for hackers and Malwares to access private information on your device.

A few weeks ago, I told you about one of the most dreadful malwares in Android history, the godless apps.

In today's post, I will be telling you another app you should avoid by all means!

Today's culprit is Flash Keyboard, a very popular third-party keyboard app with over 50 million installs and a 4.3 rating on Google play store but DO NOT be deceived by these numbers.

Flash keyboard malware

A UK-based cyber-security firm, Pentest discovered Flash Keyboard to be asking for Too much permissions, displaying infected ads, asking for administrative privileges in order to make Uninstaller the app difficult, tracking user behavior, and then sending the data to servers in China without the user’s permission.

In more simple words, Flash Keyboard app is spying on Android users and security experts have already classified the app as a “malware.”

Pentest discovered that the app requires unwanted access such as access to a phone’s Bluetooth connection, WiFi status, geo-location feature, which a normal keyboard app would not require.

Also, the app would ask for access to kill background processes, read your SMS messages, show system overlays, or remove download notifications. Pentest says there is no reasons for a keyboard app to need all these permissions.

Flash Keyboard also asks for device admin permissions, and it uses these powers to take over your smartphone’s lock screen and show ads even if you don't allow it.

To make matter worse, Flash Keyboard secretly transfers data to unidentified servers based in China and other foreign countries.
Flash Keyboard also transmits sensitive user data such as the owner’s email address, device manufacturer, Model number, IMEI number and Android version to what it believes to be analytics servers in the US, Netherlands and China.

It also sends details of the current connected Wi-Fi network and other networks in its range, identity of the mobile network being used and GPS coordinates(Location) of the user.

In summary, save yourself from all these troubles and DON'T install FLASH KEYBOARD!
It's not like it even has good functions..
If you need a good third-party keyboard app, I recommend you use SwiftKey.
