MTN Stops Free Migration Between Tariff Plans

If you switch between Tariff plans on MTN a lot, you should know that it USED to be N100 per migration. However, sometime this year, MTN made it free of charge meaning you can switch between Tariff plans as much as you want to suit your needs without having to pay a dime.

Unfortunately, yesterday I migrated from BetaTalk to Pulse and I received the message below:
How to migrate to MTN Beta Talk
What's so important about switching Tariff plans?
Well, let's say you have N1,000 and you want to subscribe for MTNs 1k for 1.5GB data plan and you also need to call someone important, what do you do?
If I was in your shoes, what I would do is;
First Migrate to BetaTalk
Load the 1k recharge card When you recharge on BetaTalk you get 250% bonus.
Now I have 1,000 to subscribe and 2,500 to call or text any network.
And when I'm done using the bonus, I just go back to PULSE, talk about eating your cake and having it.

However according to the message I received from MTN NG, you'll only get one free migration per month, other migration would attract a N100 fee.

Nokia Sues Apple For Infringement

Nokia recently filed multiple lawsuits against Apple on grounds of infringement of 32 of their patents.

The Nokia lawsuit lists an infringement on virtually every version of the iPhone, from the latest iPhone 7 down to iPhone 3GS. Also the iPad Pro and every version of iPad Air and iPad Mini, as well as the Apple Watch, AppleTV, and services like Find My iPhone and Find my iPad were also listed to have infringed on Nokia’s patent rights.

Even the popular Siri Assistant featured in iOS 10 is said to have infringed on a patent Nokia acquired from Alcatel-Lucent.
Although this is not the first time Nokia has filed a lawsuit against Apple; Back in 2009, Nokia sued Apple claiming that the tech company had infringed on 10 of its patents dating back to the launch of the very first Apple iPhone in June 2007.

This is like saying Apple itself is built on Nokia’s patent. We're yet to get a statement from Apple.

Here's The List Of The Most Searched Phones Of 2016

2016 has been a really interesting year for Tech, phones in particular...
We've seen countless numbers of phones released, from major success like the Samsung S7 Edge to epic fails like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
We also witnessed quite a handful of devices released in Nigeria by the top OEMs – Infinix and Tecno. Other brands like itel, Gionee, Innjoo also released new smartphones but apparently, they need to work on their marketing skills.

Google has released it’s list of "2016 most searched smartphones in Nigeria" and as expected, the "local champions" infinix and Tecno are topping the chart, they held eight spots combined.
Top ten most searched devices on Google

Google’s Most Searched Smartphones in Nigeria for 2016
Apple’s iPhone 7 came in hot at number one. This goes to show that Nigerians so much crave for the iPhone even though 60% of people who searched for the device had no intentions of buying one.

Nuff talk, these are the most searched smart phones in Nigeria for 2016 according to Google:
  1. iPhone 7
  2. Infinix Note 3
  3. Samsung Galaxy S7
  4. Tecno Camon C9
  5. Infinix Hot 4
  6. Tecno Boom J8
  7. Infinix Hot 2
  8. Infinix Zero 3
  9. Tecno W4
  10. Tecno W3

I have a feeling 2017 would be hotter, remember Samsung has got to make a Galaxy Note 7 comeback and Apple would be releasing the iPhone 8 its ten-year anniversary device.

WhatsApp To Introduce An 'Edit' And 'Unsend' Feature Soon

The year, whatsapp has seen a lot of impressive upgrades ranging from End to End encryption, to GIF support to the most important VIDEO CALLING! which a lot of people are still enjoying.

It seems yet another update will soon be unleashed, and it is one feature fast-typers such as me need a lot... I can not count how many times I have sent wrong messages (most times I type without looking at my screen so...). With the new feature I don't have do what I used to.. Wondering what I used to do? Look at it below...

WhatsApp Unsend feature

New reports suggest that WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows its users to 'revoke' an already sent message, edit it then send it again.

This feature is currently available on BBM and Gmail.
The 'revoke' feature is said to have been spotted on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.1.869 on iOS.

While the 'revoke' and edit feature is really cool, what is more interesting about the feature is that the 'recalled' message will disappear or get deleted from the receivers' phone too.

How To Know An Original Infinix Device

If you're a regular reader on here, you'll remember that I posted two articles on how to spot fake infinix devices .
Unlike the previous posts, today's post isn't focused on any device in particular, instead it works for ALL Infinix devices including the recently launched Zero 4 and Zero 4 Plus.

It would be rather unfortunate that after spending thousands of Nairas on that new smartphone you find out that it is fake.

In this article, I'll be telling you how you can verify if your infinix device or the one you want to buy is authentic.
How to know fake infinix

How To Check If Your Infinix Smartphone and Battery is Original or Fake

To do this, you need to get your IMEI and VC Number.
To get your IMEI number, dial *#06# on the phone.
For the VC number, check on the battery or phone, It is usually below the battery.

After getting the necessary things (IMEI and VC number)
1. Go to infinix verification tool
2. Input your IMEI and VC number
3. Click the submit button and wait for the result

You’ll get a reply if your Infinix device is original or fake. You can also confirm if your battery is original.

WhatsApp Extends Support For BB OS, Nokia And Symbian Till July 2017

Early this year, a lot of hearts were broken when WhatsApp announced that it would no longer support a lot of devices including the BB OS from December 2016.

As December drew closer, more and more people starting selling their phones and upgraded to supported devices(I guess WhatsApp is that important...)

December is here, the Nightmare has arrived... Many might think but WhatsApp has decided to give you more time to upgrade your phone to a supported device.

WhatsApp Extends Support For BB OS
If you are still using a Blackberry device that runs BB OS or the old-school Nokia devices(Asha and the likes...), count your blessings, at least for now, because Whatsapp is extending its service on these devices until the 30th of June, 2017.

Unfortunately, the extension doesn’t cover phones running Android 2.3 and earlier, Windows Phone 7 or iOS 6.

MTN Midnight Plan Back Online!

The past few days has been the most fearful for all data users. It started when NCC mandated all telcos to increase their data plan prices.

Shortly after the announcement was made, MTNs N25 midnight plan started glitching and two days ago it started saying
'Sorry, this plan is no longer available".

I feared the worst had happened until today when I tried subscribing again and it went smoothly, matter of fact that's what I'm using to post this update.
Mtn midnight plan working

Now I don't know if MTN had a change of heart or if the Senate stopping the planned data tariff hike has anything to do with it but I'm glad it's back!!

Senate Stops NCC From Hiking Data Plan Prices

Last month, a horrifying news was making the rounds.
If you missed it, read it below

However, It seems our peaceful protest on Change.org is finally working.

On Wednesday, the Senate asked the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to immediately stop the planned data tariff hike.
Senate Stops NCC From increasing Data Plan prices
The Senate said that before any increase could be announced all parties should be consulted.
Information on this are still unsure more more details coming soon...
