MTN Nigeria Fined 1 Trillion Naira For Being 'Caring'

MTN Nigeria Fined 1 Trillion Naira For Being 'Caring'
Nigerian biggest Telecom provider 'MTN' has been slammed with an unbelievable $5 million fine for failing to adhere to a rule passed out by the NCC.

The NCC has issued our dear MTN a N1 trillion fine for trying to be a little caring towards us and not deactivating millions of Sim cards, early this year NCC stated that all unregistered Sim cards bought before January 2012 be disconnected - Which MTN failed to do.

From that date, anybody buying a new Sim card must register under his/her name.

According to BBC news, "this fine is the largest in the history of Telecom infringements".

There was a time last month or last two months when MTN deactivated a lot of Sim cards for having incomplete details and a lot of people had to re-register their lines, was this not enough in the eyes of the NCC?

8 Tips To Extend Battery Life Of Smartphones

In the world of today, technology is king and one of the most important technologies is our phones. You just can't deny that your phone(s) has in one way or the other been an important item in your life especially the younger guys but not exclusively the younger guys.

The things you can do with a phone are unlimited but we're are only allowed to use them for hours or at most a day plus, no matter how many Mah a phone might have there is always a case of low battery.
I agree that there are a lot of battery saving apps out there but at these apps can at most keep our batteries for minutes so I try not to bother myself with them.

In today's post I would be sharing eight tips on How to extend your battery life. There are so many ways to extend your battery life but I'd be keeping it at eight.

1.
Use Dark Wallpaper And Themes

Using dark wallpaper and themes can extend your battery life(if your phone has an AMOLED screen) because AMOLED screens only light up colored pixels, black coloured pixels are not lit, so the more black pixels you have on your screen, the less battery needed to light them up hence more battery is saved.

2. Turn Off Auto Brightness

As good as it may seem, don't use auto screen brightness. You would admit that using auto screen brightness makes your screen brighter than you need. Besides, if you check your battery usage stats you would notice that those 'huge screens' on your smartphones are huge battery suckers. It's better to manually set your screen brightness rather than letting your phones do all the work.

Battery saving tips

3. Update Your Apps Regularly

Update your applications as much as possible. App developers constantly release updates for a reason and some of the reasons are improved memory and battery optimization. Also delete and Uninstall old apps you nono longer use, most of these apps run background processes that suck up your batteries.

4. Reduce Screen Timeout

Screens of Android phones automatically dims and turns off after a while. It's advisable to set this interval as short as possible would have a great impact on your battery life.
The shorter the timeout interval the more battery that is saved.

5. Turn Off Vibrate and Feedback

Turn off vibration and feedback(vibration when you type) unless you need them.
It takes more power to Vibrate your phone than it does to make it ring.
It may seem cool but truly it does nothing other than kill your battery.

6. You Don't Have To Be Connected 24/7

Okay, this is the bitter truth, you really don't have to be online 24/7(we can make an exception for me tho').

Turn off features like 3G, WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth, GPS and Location when you don't need them.
Also, turning your 3G and WiFi on at the same time makes almost no sense because you only need one at a time.

7. Make Use Of Battery Saving Features

Almost all Android phones have a battery saving tool in the menu that helps conserve and save battery, mine has two, it has the power saving mode and Ultra Power Saving Mode, Sony has STAMINA mode and HTC has Extreme power saving mode.

Power saving mode

My ultra power saving mode limits usage to just messaging, phone calls and clock meaning I can only make calls, send and receive messages and check the time when I'm in this mode and this increases my battery life by hours.

8. Use ONLY Original Batteries

Use only original, authentic batteries for your smartphone. If you use a fake battery then no matter what you do it would always be lacking. Buying a fake battery just because it is cheaper is one of the worst mistakes you can make because it MIGHT damage your beloved Smartphone and not to talk about the poor battery life.

These are tips you can use to extend your battery life and get more out of your phone.
If you know of any other tips that was not added here, don't hesitate to use the comment box below.

Would You Pay To View YouTube Videos??

On Tuesday, October 21th, YouTube announced 'YouTube red' a new subscription plan that removes adverts from YouTube videos and offers additional 'premium' contents from top YouTube stars like PewDiePie.

The new YouTube red subscription would cost $9.99(N1,990.51) monthly on desktop, mobile Web and Android devices but there's an extra $3(N567.7) charge on iOS devices making it a total of $12.99(N2588.26) for iOS users. The additional $3 charge is meant to cover Apple's In-app purchase tax of 30 percent. The regular, Ad-supported version of YouTube would still be available for people that prefer that method of viewing.

One of the added benefits of the new YouTube red is offline viewing - Paying users would be able to save YouTube videos on their phones to watch later.

YouTube red would also support background viewing, meaning that premium users would be able to run YouTube videos on background as they run other applications.

YouTube is also this medium to launch YouTube music, a free music player. Non-subscribers can also use the YouTube music but with a few ads and it doesn't support background playing meaning the music doesn't stop when you leave the app or turn your screen off.

Users in United States can start paying for the YouTube red from October 28th. Google is also offering one month trial to start.

How To Run Cortana On Android Devices

Digital Assistants are Application programs designed to make things easier for us, the things a Digital Assistant can do for you are just... Unlimited, from taking notes for example you can tell 'her' to remind you to get something from the store when next you go shopping.

It can also serve as an alarm you can tell it to wake you up in two minutes and it would!

Get Cortana on Android devices

They can also work as a unit converter.

Install Cortana on Android devices

There are a lot of Digital Assistants out there but I'd list just five of them because they are the "BIG 5" owned by big tech companies.

We've got Android's Google now

Apple's Siri

Apple siri digital assistant

Microsoft's Cortana

Cortana for Android phones

We also have Facebook's newly introduced M

Facebook MM digital assistant

Oh! And lastly we have Amazon's Alexa

Amazon Alexa digital assistant
If you look closely at the symbol of alexa you will notice that it bears a striking resemblance to Cortana, but I wouldn't be going into that.

Allow me to stop there because if I were to list all the things you could do with a Digital Assistant I might end up not doing the tutorial anymore. I just wanted you to have an idea of what a digital assistant is, at least for those of us that don't know.

Now, to the main reason for writing this post.
Personally, of all the Digital Assistants I prefer Google Now, but since we all have our different choices some might like Cortana better and would like to get Cortana on their Android devices and some like me just want get a taste of the two worlds.

There are however a few limitations placed on the Android version of Cortana, for example you can not wake Cortana up by saying 'Hey, Cortana'.

If you can live with that, then let's get on with it!

To Get Cortana on your Android phones first download This file, Install and run it.

You'd need a Microsoft account, if you have one Sign in and if you don't, Create a new account.

After signing in, set up your Cortana on your phone and that's all. You would have installed Cortana on your Android device.

Note: The app is still in its Beta testing stage so there are still a couple of bugs and glitches but it's nothing you can't endure.

How To Know Your BVN Without Visiting A Bank

BVN is a policy passed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Bank Verification Number, commonly called BVN is a Biometric Identification System meant to reduce illegal banking transactions in Nigeria. It is security measure to reduce fraud in the Nigerian Banking system.

BVN bank Verification Number

An intial deadline of June 30th was put in place but due to the fact that a large number of people were still yet to Complete their BVN registration, it was postponed till October 31st 2015. An according to an article in on This Day, there would be no further extensions when the deadline is reached.

According to the Banking Sector regulator, this means that customers without BVN-linked accounts may risk being restricted from normal operations of their accounts or free access to their bank account balances by the end of the month.

So guys, if you are yet to do this I urge you please do it as soon as possible to avoid hearing 'stories that touch'.
And to those of us that haven't completed the BVN process, do you know that you can easily 'summon' your BVN number anytime you want without even visiting a bank?

Yea, you can! All you have to do is Dail *565*0# with the number that you tied to you registered during the BVN process.

After dailing this code, you should see your BVN number. It's not free but it's for a very very cheap price, when I tried checking mine I was charged N10.

Those are pretty amazing Specs but that's not why I called it the Craziest Android Phone Ever Made, the reason why I called it the craziest Android device is because...... You know what? I'm just gonna let the pictures do the talking. Check it out!

According to the description on Gearbest, it can also survive being run over by a car.

Still not impressed?
Watch these videos below which includes a hammer test, a power drill test, and also the Oukitel K4000 gets run over by a car!

Oukitel K4000 iron hammer test

Oukitel K4000 VS power drill!

Oukitel K4000 gets hit with a hammer and run over by a car

And the best part is the price, after all these crazy stuffs you'd expect the Oukitel K4000 to cost more than a million naira but the monstrous device is just $119.99 which is about N24,000.

Do I still need to talk?

I'd probably be placing an order for this device soon.

Blackberry Might Stop Smartphone Production if...

It's a sad thing that after all the amazing phones that Blackberry gave us we just abandoned them and left it to die. Since the introduction of Android devices into our lives we just turned a blind eye to the almighty BB.

If we tell ourselves the truth you'd find out that most of us has at one point in time used a Blackberry phone but I wouldn't blame those of us that jumped ship because at a point it seemed that Blackberry was static, what they did was made a new phone with the same specs and firmware but a different design and gave it a new name(I'm still wondering what the difference between Blackberry bold 4 and a Blackberry bold 2 is) they did this so much that even when they started making progress we weren't interested because we had eaten the forbidden fruit of eden(Android and Apple).

Which them think "If they won't come to us, why don't we go to them? Why don't we make an android phone?" that thought transformed into the Blackberry Priv which we are all waiting earnestly for.

Last week, Blackberry's CEO John Chen made it clear that this new Android Blackberry device would determine the future of Blackberry itself.
According to him;
If his company can not become profitable in the handset business, they would seriously considering exiting it entirely. .

He also went on to set a goal his company needs to meet, he said his targeted amount of sales is FIVE MILLION!

If you ask me, I'd say that's a pretty big  number judging from the fact that the same company struggled with 800,000 sales in the a recent quarter. But who knows, the new Blackberry priv could be a game changer.

We have no choice but to sit and watch what happens.
Personally, I think I'd buy the new device, that's if it's within reach I've always been a blackberry fan-boy, I've used over five of their devices.

Do you think they can meet up this target sale?

Is MTN Stopping All The Good Stuffs?

It would appear that the telecom giant, MTN is currently ending a lot of amazing offers , yesterday I got a message that said;

Y'ello! Thank you for using TruTalk+. In adherence with regulatory requirements, TruTalk+ is now 20k/sec. Enjoy 100% bonus on every recharge by dialing *885*PIN

Mtn stops the Android one Infinix Hot 2 data offer

Before this, I made calls @ 11kobo/sec but after I received the message, I'm charged 20k/sec.

It's not just me, according to a comment on This post, the MTN 1GB for N500 offer has also been stopped.
If you try to subscribe for it now you get a message saying ;

Sorry, in adherence to regulatory requirements, The Android one has been withdrawn. Please Dail *123*3# or *123*4# for other exciting offers thank you!

Now I'm trying to understand what regulatoregulatory requirements they are trying to adhere to that causing all the amazing offers on MTN to be dropped , could it be the NCC that is trying to complicated matters for us?

Did you any message like the ones above, share it through the comments section.

Super Fast way To Take Pictures On Android Phones

Super Fast way To Take Pictures On Android Phones
I've been using the Infinix Hot Note for over two months now and I never for once noticed this.

Some of you might know this already but the main reason for writing this post is for the ones that don't know.

Yesterday, while I was out with my buddy Nightshade, we decided to take a few photos, I brought my phone and the photo shoot began. We took a couple pictures and then he said he wanted to take a couple of selfies. He uses a phone with a dedicated camera shutter key on its side so naturally he expected that mine did too.

While he was taking the selfies I couldn't help but notice that he was using a button on the side of my phone to take the pictures. I was shocked and I wondered if my phone had suddenly sprouted a camera shutter key, I went closer and noticed that he was using the VOLUME KEY.

I asked him how he knew about it, and he simply said 'No be the camera button be that nii?' (Isn't that the camera button?) I said No, that's the volume button. Turns out he didn't even know he was using the volume button. I was eager to try it, I pressed the volume key and it worked. I tested it on both my front and back camera.

I also tried this new discovery on an Infinix Zero 2 and it also worked.

So, if you're the selfie taking type you can try taking your pictures with either the Volume up or the volume down button, both works.

Try it with your phones and tell me what model and if it worked 😉

For months now, we've heard of so much 'Marshmallow 6.0 related' news that we've become impatient and wondering when the OTA updates are starting or if your device would be getting the new Android Marshmallow 6.0 update.

A new list has been Leaked, this new list has been flying around so I just want to share it with you guys.

List of eligible devices for Android Marshmallow 6.0

If you look at this new list closely, you would notice that some Android devices that were not released in the earlier list released by OEM was actually included like the Samsung Galaxy S5. If you look at it again you would see that 'Chinese' manufacturers dominated the list. I never thought Elephone would make the list, even though it's at the bottom of the list that's really amazing.

Pre-owned laptops with Jiji are more like the new ones but at low price

D:\WORK\Даша тексти\True Story\laptops\4.jpg
I’ve been thinking about buying a new laptop for a while now and wanted to collect more money in order to get something great, not just ‘okay’. Tired of scanning all the models, manufacturers, discounts etc, I decided to ask my friend for advice. He’s been working in an IT company and was more aware of all new and good old products, as well as the places you can get them. That’s how I found out about Jiji.ng.

Infinix Hot 2 MTN Data Bonus Deception

Since when the Infinix Hot 2 dropped back in August, it's always been in the news. First it was the fact that the device was Africa's first Android One Device, we clamoured 'Finally Africa has been recognised!'. Then we heard that the Infinix Hot 2 would be among the first devices to get the Android Marshmallow 6.0 update, that made the phone even more awesome! I mean, getting the latest Android version on a N17,500 phone, that's pretty unbelievable.
Finally, last week I told you of a Bigger 3000mah battery for the Infinix HOT2  that would be released soon. It was an amazing news because we were all having problems with the Infinix Hot 2 battery, I used the device for over a week and I noticed that the Infinix Hot 2 battery wasn't really good, it wasn't horribly bad but based on the fact that I use an Infinix Hot note I noticed there was a really big gap in the battery life of these two Infinix devices.

Now after all these awesomeness, Why! MTN, Why!, Why did you have to deceive us like this?

Infinix Hot2 battery , mtn data bonus

Another selling point of the Infinix Hot 2 was the data bonus that MTN 'Allegedly' included which allows you to purchase 1GB of data for Just N500 as many times as you want in a year. This was a really nice offer because data(megabytes) is on thing we just can't have enough of, so being able to purchase it at an affordable price was more like a blessing at least while it lasted.

A lot of people bought this new Infinix device, some bought it for its Awesome specs, some bought it for the fact that it runs on Stock Android which is Android in its purest form. Some bought it for its "pocket-friendly" price and many bought it for the MTN Data Bonus, according to them 'they don't have to worry so much about megabytes again'. But it appears we have all been fooled because the Data bonus doesn't really work for a year, it's actually a month or if you're lucky two months

For sometime now, a lot of people complain that they're no longer able to purchase the 1GB for N500 anymore after the first month that it kept saying 'ineligible'. You can call it I.T.K (believe I know too much) but I always thought they were not doing it right that maybe they were doing something wrongly until few days ago when a man a bought the Infinix Hot 2 for called me and said "My boy, that thing wey you help me do no dey work again o!"(which means 'My boy, that thing you helped me to do doesn't work anymore" , immediately I thought to myself 'this is my opportunity to prove that those people were doing it wrongly' I went to his house, he gave the phone which he already recharged N500 on.

I went to the message and sent A1 to 131, i wore a smirk on my face as I waited for the success message but I got slapped in the face with an 'Ineligible message' I was shocked, I tried again and again and again but I still got the same message and the make matters worse I saw a notification which said 'Your last session was 0.50kb and total cost of last session was 0.99' meaning 0.99 kobo has been deducted for nothing and 499.01 was now on the phone.

To cut the story short, I have a question 'have we all been fooled by the Telecom giant MTN or is just a momentary issue?'

Do you also face this problem or are you getting your data bundle without trouble even after a month, Use the comment box below

New Infinix HOT2 With 3000mah Battery To Be Available Soon

Google's Android one device in Africa which is the new Infinix Hot 2 is a really nice phone with awesome specs and also there would be an Android Marshmallow 6.0 update for it in the coming weeks.

Generally, the Infinix HOT2 is an awesome phone, in fact it's worth way more than its price. After all the cool specs, there ls just one thing that it's lacking which is the battery. We all have a problem with this.
