MTN Stops Free Migration Between Tariff Plans

If you switch between Tariff plans on MTN a lot, you should know that it USED to be N100 per migration. However, sometime this year, MTN made it free of charge meaning you can switch between Tariff plans as much as you want to suit your needs without having to pay a dime.

Unfortunately, yesterday I migrated from BetaTalk to Pulse and I received the message below:
How to migrate to MTN Beta Talk
What's so important about switching Tariff plans?
Well, let's say you have N1,000 and you want to subscribe for MTNs 1k for 1.5GB data plan and you also need to call someone important, what do you do?
If I was in your shoes, what I would do is;
First Migrate to BetaTalk
Load the 1k recharge card When you recharge on BetaTalk you get 250% bonus.
Now I have 1,000 to subscribe and 2,500 to call or text any network.
And when I'm done using the bonus, I just go back to PULSE, talk about eating your cake and having it.

However according to the message I received from MTN NG, you'll only get one free migration per month, other migration would attract a N100 fee.

Nokia Sues Apple For Infringement

Nokia recently filed multiple lawsuits against Apple on grounds of infringement of 32 of their patents.

The Nokia lawsuit lists an infringement on virtually every version of the iPhone, from the latest iPhone 7 down to iPhone 3GS. Also the iPad Pro and every version of iPad Air and iPad Mini, as well as the Apple Watch, AppleTV, and services like Find My iPhone and Find my iPad were also listed to have infringed on Nokia’s patent rights.

Even the popular Siri Assistant featured in iOS 10 is said to have infringed on a patent Nokia acquired from Alcatel-Lucent.
Although this is not the first time Nokia has filed a lawsuit against Apple; Back in 2009, Nokia sued Apple claiming that the tech company had infringed on 10 of its patents dating back to the launch of the very first Apple iPhone in June 2007.

This is like saying Apple itself is built on Nokia’s patent. We're yet to get a statement from Apple.

Here's The List Of The Most Searched Phones Of 2016

2016 has been a really interesting year for Tech, phones in particular...
We've seen countless numbers of phones released, from major success like the Samsung S7 Edge to epic fails like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
We also witnessed quite a handful of devices released in Nigeria by the top OEMs – Infinix and Tecno. Other brands like itel, Gionee, Innjoo also released new smartphones but apparently, they need to work on their marketing skills.

Google has released it’s list of "2016 most searched smartphones in Nigeria" and as expected, the "local champions" infinix and Tecno are topping the chart, they held eight spots combined.
Top ten most searched devices on Google

Google’s Most Searched Smartphones in Nigeria for 2016
Apple’s iPhone 7 came in hot at number one. This goes to show that Nigerians so much crave for the iPhone even though 60% of people who searched for the device had no intentions of buying one.

Nuff talk, these are the most searched smart phones in Nigeria for 2016 according to Google:
  1. iPhone 7
  2. Infinix Note 3
  3. Samsung Galaxy S7
  4. Tecno Camon C9
  5. Infinix Hot 4
  6. Tecno Boom J8
  7. Infinix Hot 2
  8. Infinix Zero 3
  9. Tecno W4
  10. Tecno W3

I have a feeling 2017 would be hotter, remember Samsung has got to make a Galaxy Note 7 comeback and Apple would be releasing the iPhone 8 its ten-year anniversary device.

WhatsApp To Introduce An 'Edit' And 'Unsend' Feature Soon

The year, whatsapp has seen a lot of impressive upgrades ranging from End to End encryption, to GIF support to the most important VIDEO CALLING! which a lot of people are still enjoying.

It seems yet another update will soon be unleashed, and it is one feature fast-typers such as me need a lot... I can not count how many times I have sent wrong messages (most times I type without looking at my screen so...). With the new feature I don't have do what I used to.. Wondering what I used to do? Look at it below...

WhatsApp Unsend feature

New reports suggest that WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows its users to 'revoke' an already sent message, edit it then send it again.

This feature is currently available on BBM and Gmail.
The 'revoke' feature is said to have been spotted on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.1.869 on iOS.

While the 'revoke' and edit feature is really cool, what is more interesting about the feature is that the 'recalled' message will disappear or get deleted from the receivers' phone too.

How To Know An Original Infinix Device

If you're a regular reader on here, you'll remember that I posted two articles on how to spot fake infinix devices .
Unlike the previous posts, today's post isn't focused on any device in particular, instead it works for ALL Infinix devices including the recently launched Zero 4 and Zero 4 Plus.

It would be rather unfortunate that after spending thousands of Nairas on that new smartphone you find out that it is fake.

In this article, I'll be telling you how you can verify if your infinix device or the one you want to buy is authentic.
How to know fake infinix

How To Check If Your Infinix Smartphone and Battery is Original or Fake

To do this, you need to get your IMEI and VC Number.
To get your IMEI number, dial *#06# on the phone.
For the VC number, check on the battery or phone, It is usually below the battery.

After getting the necessary things (IMEI and VC number)
1. Go to infinix verification tool
2. Input your IMEI and VC number
3. Click the submit button and wait for the result

You’ll get a reply if your Infinix device is original or fake. You can also confirm if your battery is original.

WhatsApp Extends Support For BB OS, Nokia And Symbian Till July 2017

Early this year, a lot of hearts were broken when WhatsApp announced that it would no longer support a lot of devices including the BB OS from December 2016.

As December drew closer, more and more people starting selling their phones and upgraded to supported devices(I guess WhatsApp is that important...)

December is here, the Nightmare has arrived... Many might think but WhatsApp has decided to give you more time to upgrade your phone to a supported device.

WhatsApp Extends Support For BB OS
If you are still using a Blackberry device that runs BB OS or the old-school Nokia devices(Asha and the likes...), count your blessings, at least for now, because Whatsapp is extending its service on these devices until the 30th of June, 2017.

Unfortunately, the extension doesn’t cover phones running Android 2.3 and earlier, Windows Phone 7 or iOS 6.

MTN Midnight Plan Back Online!

The past few days has been the most fearful for all data users. It started when NCC mandated all telcos to increase their data plan prices.

Shortly after the announcement was made, MTNs N25 midnight plan started glitching and two days ago it started saying
'Sorry, this plan is no longer available".

I feared the worst had happened until today when I tried subscribing again and it went smoothly, matter of fact that's what I'm using to post this update.
Mtn midnight plan working

Now I don't know if MTN had a change of heart or if the Senate stopping the planned data tariff hike has anything to do with it but I'm glad it's back!!

Senate Stops NCC From Hiking Data Plan Prices

Last month, a horrifying news was making the rounds.
If you missed it, read it below

However, It seems our peaceful protest on Change.org is finally working.

On Wednesday, the Senate asked the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to immediately stop the planned data tariff hike.
Senate Stops NCC From increasing Data Plan prices
The Senate said that before any increase could be announced all parties should be consulted.
Information on this are still unsure more more details coming soon...

MTN Midnight Plan To Be Stopped Soon?

Few days ago, the NCC mandated all Nigerian telecommunication companies to increase their data plan prices.

A petition is currently ongoing to try to stop this from taking effect. You can also take part in the movement. Click here to sign the petition.

It's a day to the D-day and I tried to subscribe to MTN's N25 midnight plan, however the reply I got sent shocks down my spine.

After sending Night to 131, naturally you would receive a reply that says;
"Dear Customer, you have successfully subscribed to Free Night Browsing between 12am and 4am. N25 has been deducted. Fair usage policy apply. Enjoy!"
However instead if the regular reply, here's what I got:
Mtn stops midnight plan
Although, I was given the data regardless of the reply, I think this indicates that MTN might be removing the N25 for 500mb midnight plan.... So... Sad!

Join The Protest! Say No To Data Price Increase

I already told you guys that come December 1st(which is tomorrow), all data plan prices will be increased to reflect the new rates set by the NCC.

I'm not happy at all about these new changes and it seems I am not the only one that doesn't like the new directive by the NCC.

An equally concerned Nigerian has started a petition on Change.org to protest against the new directive.
I already signed the petition now I need you guys to do the same and share it on every social media you have to let everybody join the movement.

Sign the petition. Let your voice count, spread the news and let NCC know we are not happy about it!

NCC Orders All Telcos to Increase Data Price Starting From Dec 1st 2016

In hard times such as the ones we are passing through, one would think that the NCC would at least try to make life easier for Nigerians instead they are doing the exact opposite. The NCC has ordered all telecommunications companies to increase their data plan prices beginning from December 1st 2016.

This is really sad, I remember that as at last year, you could only get as much as 260MB for 1,000 on MTN(I don't know if you remember) but over time it got better and better now we at a point where I can easily get 3GB for N1,000 on the same MTN.

However, NCC believes that increasing data plan prices is one of the surest ways of generating revenues for the Government. They know regardless of how much it is, that we can’t do without buying data.

Don’t be surprise if beginning from December 1st 2016, N1000 will only get you 500MB of data. The data you normally get 3GB for N1000 before will be history.

If you don't believe me, call MTN self-help centre at 181 and listen to the announcement yourself.

This is indeed really sad, but I know if we can survive buying 260mb at 1k we will definitely overcome whatever is coming!

In a bid to keep whatsapp as the 'oba' of instant messaging, a brand new feature has been added to the mix.
The new feature allows you to stream videos while downloading them, just like on Youtube.

Before this feature this feature came along, you could only watch videos sent to you via Whatsapp after you have downloaded it, but now you can easily preview the video before you download it. So if while previewing the video you feel like you are not interested, you don't have to download it.

What is Black Friday, When is Black Friday?

Black Friday... Lately, you must have heard this term a lot but what does it really mean?

Is it a day when the Sky turns black(like an eclipse) ? 😕

***Singing Hell to the naw naw by Bishop bullwinkle***

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving(US).

Thanksgiving is a national holiday in America when families come together to share food(which mostly include turkey), enjoy parades and watch American football!

Black Friday is often referred to as the best day of the year to go shopping, but I've got to say it ain't gon' be easy.

On this day, various stores offer unimaginable price slashes across a lot of products(if not all). The sale usually last for a day only but lately we've been hearing terms such as 'black Friday weekend' by Amazon which offers a couple of limited time discounts across a handful of products.

Best black Friday deals
Black Friday shoppers ready to wreck havoc
Black Friday is usually a long day as stores open as early as 6 am to welcome the anticipating Black Friday shoppers who are probably already waiting around the windows.

What is Black Friday
Black Friday shoppers wrestling for a plasma TV
Jumia brought this 'frenzy' to Nigeria back in 2013 but didn't record much success at the time because we were all new to it, but 2014's Black Friday sales was hot! as we were already prepared and anticipating it(some even had a shopping list). But last year's bBlack Friday was off the charts, the prices were too good to be true...a friend of mine bought a brand new infinix hot 2 for N8750 on jumia.

November is here again and Black Friday is just around the corner (Nov. 25) so if you missed last year's sale or you participated last year and would love to go again then start getting ready because report state that this year's Black Friday sale is expected to be the BIGGEST EVER!

Jumia already started its Black Friday sales since Nov. 14 but a lot would still happen

Me, I'm already writing my list I don't know about you?

That's true sef, **adds one more to the list**

What can you do in sixty seconds?
Wearing my skinny jeans would take more time, brushing my teeth takes more time.. I guess I can wear my shoes in one minute..

A group of Chinese Hackers hacked Google's new device -Pixel- in one minute!
Google’s Security chief was quoted saying:
“For almost all threat models [the Pixels and iPhone] are nearly identical in terms of their platform-level capabilities.

That's him comparing the Google Pixel with the iPhone in terms of security.

Google Pixel hack
However, he was proved wrong as the Chinese White Hat Hackers managed to hack the Pixel in 60 seconds! Watch the video HERE

The hackers who won $120,000 in cash had full remote access to personal information such as messages, phone calls, contacts, and photos.

Although,Google is Reportedly working on a patch to close the vulnerability

Leaked Photos Of Nokia's Upcoming Android Device

I'm really really sorry for not being around these days... I could say a thousand 'sorries' and it still won't be enough. A couple of stuffs happened that's kept me away from the computer for a while. Just please bear with me for a while, we'll be back on track very soon.

To the news on hand, for a long time we've heard that Nokia is about to jump back in the mobile market coming with Android and we expect to be a really good move with Nokia's standing reputation of producing durable, super phones.

Though Nokia will not be designing, manufacturing or even marketing the upcoming devices that will carry Nokia name, seeing the name NOKIA back on a device brings back good memories.

I managed to get some photos of the upcoming Nokia Android Smartphone. The pictures reveal that the device has a metallic Body, is really slim and has curved corners. Here are those photos check it out.

The Elephone S7 'A Samsung S7 Copy' Has Been Launched

Few months ago, I told you guys about the Elephone S7 which I called 'An S7 Clone'.
After much anticipation, the Elephone S7 has finally been launched and available for sale.

Elephone S7

The Elephone S7 features a metal frame that goes around the sides separating two glass panels on the back and the front. It has a design similar to Samsung devices and a curved screen like the S7 Edge.
The Elephone S7 looks like a combination of the Galaxy Note 7 and the Galaxy S7 edge.
However, though the Elephone S7 looks like a Samsung flagship, it has a couple of disappointing specifications.
Elephone S7

Before I discuss the specifications of the Elephone S7, I want us to look at something Elephone is saying.
Elephone says the S7 is a guaranteed 'explosion-proof' device. The maker says that there are three layers of protection against explosions. The first is a battery that's been extensively tested. The second layer is an explosion-proof membrane and the third is an explosion-proof TPU shell.

There are two versions of the Elephone S7. One comes with a 5.2-inch display while the other has a larger 5.5-inch display. Both devices have a resolution of 1080 × 1920 pixels and are protected by a curved display glass.
Elephone S7
The Elephone S7 is powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 chipset with a deca-core CPU and an ARM Mali T880 GPU. The device comes in different variants, The cheapest variant comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage but there are also models with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage as well as a variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The Elephone S7 comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. Other specs include a microSD card slot, dual-SIM support, NFC support, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and a 3000mAh battery.

Pricing starts from $139.99.

WhatsApp Video Calling Is Live!

Since Facebook acquired WhatsApp back in 2014, the popular messaging app has seen a lot of great improvements.
However one of the most important and anticipated feature that has been missing is the video calling feature.

Now, that's a thing of the past as I just spotted the video calling feature on my WhatsApp this evening while I was trying to chat with a friend.
WhatsApp Video Calling

Though it seems the WhatsApp video calling feature is currently only available for beta testers(like me😊)  but expect it to be available on the official version very soon.

To use video calling on WhatsApp, all you have to do is click on the 'Call icon' at the top of your screen then you'll see an option to either make a voice call or video call.
WhatsApp Video Call

If the person you are trying to video call hasn’t updated to the beta version, you would see an error message like this:
WhatsApp Video Call

There is an option to record a video message if the person you're calling isn’t available at the time of the call kinda like Voice mail so let's call it 'Video mail' LOL.

READ ALSO: How To Send Android Apps And Other Unsupported Files Through Whatsapp

This new WhatsApp feature is a piss in Google's soup as it puts the Big, Bad WhatsApp against Google's newly launched video calling app DUO.
Whatsapp is one of the most popular messaging app and almost anyone with a smartphone has Whatsapp installed unlike Google Duo.

If Google wants to edge out WhatsApp Video Calling, it should concentrate on the quality and data usage of its Duo app. Because judging from the bad quality of WhatsApp voice calling, I suspect that the new video calling wouldn't be so far off.

Ghen Ghen! Another iPhone 7 Explodes And Blows Car Up

Earlier this month, news of an iPhone 7 explosion went viral, and now, another one has occurred this time in Australia.

This ongoing series of exploding iPhone 7s is already causing users to panic.
As they say, 'first time is a mistake, second time is a pattern' .
Let's all hope a pattern of exploding iPhone 7s isn't being created because if it is, Apple might face the same fate that befell Samsung causing them to permanently halt all Galaxy Note 7 productions worldwide.
Iphone 7 Explodes
Add caption
In the latest incident, an iPhone 7 user Mat Jones said he left his phone under a bunch of clothes in his car and went for a surfing lesson. Unfortunately for him, on his rmeturn, he found his car filled with smoke.
His iPhone 7 had caught fire and burnt his car's interior completely.

He is now left with no phone and no car,
as his car was badly damaged during the fire.
Iphone 7 explosion
Apple is aware of the incident and will investigate the events that led to the phone’s explosion. The investigation would determine whether or not the incident was caused by a defect.

Note:The iPhone 7 was kept under clothes, in a car parked at the beach, so it is possible that the explosion was caused by overheating in the car.

If you have any phone, No matter what model it is, don’t let it overheat, and definitely do NOT charge it on your bed near a pillow, phones can get really hot if they are charging and end up under a pillow.
