WhatsApp Video Calling Is Live!

Since Facebook acquired WhatsApp back in 2014, the popular messaging app has seen a lot of great improvements.
However one of the most important and anticipated feature that has been missing is the video calling feature.

Now, that's a thing of the past as I just spotted the video calling feature on my WhatsApp this evening while I was trying to chat with a friend.
WhatsApp Video Calling

Though it seems the WhatsApp video calling feature is currently only available for beta testers(like me😊)  but expect it to be available on the official version very soon.

To use video calling on WhatsApp, all you have to do is click on the 'Call icon' at the top of your screen then you'll see an option to either make a voice call or video call.

If the person you are trying to video call hasn’t updated to the beta version, you would see an error message like this:
WhatsApp Video Call

There is an option to record a video message if the person you're calling isn’t available at the time of the call kinda like Voice mail so let's call it 'Video mail' LOL.

This new WhatsApp feature is a piss in Google's soup as it puts the Big, Bad WhatsApp against Google's newly launched video calling app DUO.
Whatsapp is one of the most popular messaging app and almost anyone with a smartphone has Whatsapp installed unlike Google Duo.

If Google wants to edge out WhatsApp Video Calling, it should concentrate on the quality and data usage of its Duo app. Because judging from the bad quality of WhatsApp voice calling, I suspect that the new video calling wouldn't be so far off.
