XOS - Infinix Custom Interface Coming Soon

Custom user interface commonly called Custom UI is not a new thing in the Android realm.
 Many Android makers have custom UI's, HTC has the Sense UI, Samsung has TouchWiz, Asus has ZenUI and just recently Tecno launched its own custom UI, the HiOS which is present on the Tecno Boom J8 and the recently released Tecno Camon C9.

For some time now, Infinix has been working on its XOS custom user interface.

The beta version of the XOS interface is currently being tested on the Infinix Note 2 and the Infinix zero 3.

The XOS custom UI would be based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will look similar to Tecno's HiOS.

The XOS would first be seen on the Infinix Hot S, Infinix next device.
I'm still wondering what the difference between the XUI and XOS is but I guess we'll know when it is launched.

China Already Has An iPhone 7 Clone

The iPhone 7 is still months away from an official launch and our chinko brothers already have a cloned version of the much anticipated devices.

Cloned devices are not new, as a matter of fact they have flooded the market. There  are clones of both the Infinix Hot 2 and the Infinix Hot Note among many others.

Earlier this year, there was news of another chinese company planning to clone the iPhone 7, however this clone of the iPhone 7 was said to run Android OS.

Looking at the images of the clone iPhone 7, you would notice that it bears a striking resemblance with renders of the Apple IPhone 7 (it even has a dual camera too).

Leaked Specifications Of Samsung Note 7

The Samsung Note 7 is Samsung's next flagship device. It was supposed to be called the Galaxy Note 6 but Samsung had to move a year quicker so that the Note series would catch up with the S-series thereby changing this year's Note to the Samsung Note 7 instead of the Note 6.

A popular leaker Evan Blass popularly known on twitter as @Evleaks recently released a list of specs the Galaxy Note 7 will be coming with.

• Dual 12MP Rear camera
• 5MP Front-facing Camera

According to rumors, the Galaxy Note 7 would be launched on August 2.

Infinix New X-Band Smartwatch Currently Sells For N25,800

Couple of days ago, Infinix Mobility launched their first ever wearable; the Infinix X-band XBO1. However since its launch, nothing have been said about the price of the infinix X-band.

A twitter user @JohnyLava replied to a post by Misstechy asking how much the X-band cost and an infinix staff replied stating that the X-band sells for N25,800 and is currently available at 3C HUB, Ikeja.

Infinix Hot S With Incredible Specs Coming Soon

Sometime last month, the image of an infinix device that has a fingerprint scanner leaked online. We assumed that the device was going to be the Note 3 because the Infinix Zero line already has a third edition and the Infinix Hot family has Hot 3 so we thought the next infinix device would be the Note 3.

Contrary to public thought, the device is actually the Infinix Hot S(according to rumors online) and it is said to be packing a lot of impressive specifications.

According to rumors, the Infinix Hot S will have a design similar to the design of the Infinix Zero 2 but this time, the company has decided to go with an all metal body.

The major selling point of the Infinix Hot S will be an 8MP front camera with LED flash. Snapchat Is Coming To Windows Phones Soon

Users of Microsoft Lumia and other Windows phones are well aware of the fact that they do not have as many apps as Android users. Snapchat being one of the most important one

Windows users have been requesting for the popular photo sharing app, Snapchat for a long time and it seems that the Windows company has finally gained an official client from Snapchat.

A Lumia user recently asked about the status of Snapchat for Windows Phones and a Lumia support staff from Spain provided a positive response.

The Lumia staff revealed that Microsoft is currently working with friends at Snapchat to launch snapchat on Windows phones. Although no release date has been set, it's safe to assume that it will happen very soon.

Instagram To Get A Translate Button Next Month

In the past few years, Instagram has grown to become one of the most popular, most used photo sharing app. Matter of fact, just last week Instagram hit a milestone of 500 million users and 300 million daily visits.

According to a post on Bizreport, 80%of these 500 million subscribers live outside the United States hence the importance of a translate button.

Doing a little maths, it is revealed that over 400 million Instagram users are non-Americans. Try to imagine all the different languages spoken by those people.
A Translate Button that translates foreign languages into something you can understand is more than welcome.

Instagram, via its Instagram page announced that in the coming month, users will see a translation button on profile bios and feed stories written in languages you can’t understand. So, ANTICIPATE!

Beware!! Malicious Godless Apps Are On Playstore

Trend Micro, a US-based security company has detected a family of mobile malware called Godless that functions with a set of rooting exploits. Using these exploits, Godless can target almost all Android phone running on Android 5.1 Lollipop or earlier. Today, about 90 per cent of Android devices run on these affected versions.

Godless hides inside an app and tries to root your phone. This allows admin access to a device, permitting unauthorised apps to be installed on the device. Godless apps wait until the screen is off before they start their rooting processes and once Godless has finished rooting the device, they are very hard to uninstall, Trend Micro said.

Godless apps can be found on popular app stores, including Google Play, and has affected over 850,000 devices worldwide.
Trend Micro has found various apps in Google Play that belong to the Godless family.

Twitter increases Video Limit To 140 Seconds

Twitter has announced that the video limit has been increased from 30 seconds to 140 seconds(what's with Twitter and the number 140?) . The new 140-second video limit also applies to Vine(twitter's video streaming service), which previously had a six-second limit.

Twitter will also start allowing video publishers to make money from their contents on Vine.
Vine will use Twitter's Amplify Open program, which plays video ads before the actual video starts playing.

Twitter also launched "Twitter Engage", a new mobile app that allows users with a lot of followers to track their posts and see what their followers are tweeting.

Twitter faces increasing competition in mobile video from Facebook's Instagram and popular messaging app Snapchat.
Instagram has a video limit of 60secs.
Facebook live has a limit if 45 minutes and snapchat has a video limit of 10secs(the shortest in the list).

This is a really good move, creative video creators and social media comedians like craze clown and Emmanuella can use Twitter Engage as a means to get a little extra cash.

What Happened To MTN's N25 Midnight Plan?

A few weeks ago when the data plan war was at its peak, MTN launched a midnight plan that gives subscribers 500mb for just N25. This data plan was generally accepted by people that love browsing at night(including me).

Fast forward to yesterday, I found out that a new season of a movie that I watch(Orange Is The New Black) had just premiered and I couldn't wait for 12:00am so I could download it using the beloved MTN midnight plan because I didn't want to waste my all-day data plan.

The much awaited time reached and I hurriedly subscribed to the midnight plan and it was successfully activated. However to my amazement, nothing was going... Not even ordinary Facebook.
I decided to wait for a bit thinking maybe the clock at MTN's HQ was wrong.
 Ten minutes passed... Nothing
 One hour later... Nothing
Two hours..... Nothing

I just gave up jare.....My N25 just wasted like that..  Lol

Later in the day, I was talking with a friend that uses the midnight plan on a daily and he said he had been experiencing the same thing for days now.

I had already forgotten about this issue until this morning when I saw a message on whatsapp from one of the group members then I realized that this is actually a general issue.

LeEco To Produce The World First 8GB RAM Smartphone

Chinese smartphone brands seem to be engaging in a specifications war right now with brands like Vivo, Meizu and LeTv producing devices with specifications that are just plain crazy!

LeEco(formerly known as LeTv) has not been in the smartphone market for so long but it's already become one of the top Android devices around now. It also has the fastest smartphone in the world according to Antutu.

According to Gizchina, LeEco is currently working on a new flagship device. The device is said to feature a snapdragon 821 chipset along with a 25-megapixels camera and an insanely large 8GB RAM!!

Just so you know, it's not all about how many gigabytes of RAM a phone has, the iPhone 6S has just 2Gb RAM and it beat every android device with 4GB RAM.

The price of the new device is rumored to be around $445, that is quite cheap judging by the top of the line specs the device has. 

BBM Video Calling Now Available For Android And iOS Users

There are a lot of apps that allows to make video calls like Skype, Google Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, IMO etc. However if you're an addicted BBM user, you can start making video calls on your Android and iOS devices through your beloved BBM Messenger.

Back in April, Blackberry rolled out the Video Calling feature for Android users(Before this time, it was only available to Blackberry users).
 However, blackberry stated that the video calling feature was in its beta stage and was only available to users in the US and Canada but now BBM users in Africa and other countries(not all) can make video calls on their Android and iOS devices.

No sign-up or approval is required to use this feature. When you tap the call icon, BBM will ask if you want to make a voice call or try a video call with the beta feature.

Blackberry stated that the BBM video call feature can only work on devices running Android 4.4 (KitKat) upwards and iOS 8 upwards.

Additionally, video calling an Android device or iOS device from a Blackberry device wouldn’t work, instead it would be converted to a voice call. Likewise Android and iOS users cannot video call a Blackberry user.

However, Android users can initiate BBM video calls to both Android and iOS users and iOS users can also initiate BBM video calls to both iOS and Android users.

Asus phones and other devices powered by an Intel processor are currently not supported, for now.

Though BB10 users have been using the BBM video calling feature for a while now, Blackberry just decided to bring Android and iOS users into the fold.

Tecno Camon C9 Is Now Available On Konga

The Tecno Camon C9 launched a few days ago and it's full specs was released however the price remained unknown.

Just today, I heard that the newly launched Tecno Camon C9 is already available for sale on Konga.

It's got create specs, great body and a reasonable price. According to the post on Konga, it comes with a Free flip cover and a T-Band.

It goes for N54,999 but you can get it for N52,249 when you use KongaPay.
The price of the Tecno Camon C9 may reduce or increase with time.

You Can Now Send And Receive SMS On Facebook Messenger

Facebook's plan to take over just took a new turn. The company announced that you can now send and receive SMS text messages through its Android Messenger app.

This feature was present in the Messenger app back in 2012 but it was removed due to a drop in the usage. The SMS feature has now been resurrected in the Messenger app and hopefully this time it will stay for good.

In the announcement made by David Marcus, VP of Messaging products at Facebook he said;

Very excited to announce a major new feature for Messenger on
Android today! From now on, you'll be able to send and receive your
SMS messages from Messenger, which means you now have one
integrated place for all your messaging! 

A lot of Android texting apps didn't keep up with the evolution of messaging, so we felt like we truly had to make Messenger the best SMS client for Android. 

As a result, in addition to having a fully integrated app for all your messaging, you're now able to send voice clips, stickers, and even share your location over SMS on top of standard texting features. 

You will now also enjoy all the things you've come to love about Messenger for all your messages, including chat heads and more.
This update is rolling out to most countries starting today.

Lagos Residents Can Pick Up Their Sim Cards Here

Ntel officially launched a couple months back however for unknown reasons they decided to stay at Abuja all these while making it impossible for Lagosians and others to pick up their reserved Ntel Sim Cards.

After chilling in Abuja for about two months, Ntel have finally decided that it's time to open a pick up centre in Lagos.
Lagos Residents can pick up their reserved Ntel Sim Cards at Alfred Rewane(Kingsway Road) by Rumens, opposite Ikoyi Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

For now, this is the only official Ntel pick up station in Lagos however with time I'm sure new centres will be opened.

Tecno Camon C9 MIGHT Come With An Iris Scanner

The Tecno Camon C9 is one of the most anticipated devices of this year with new Leaked specs dropping almost every week.

First, it was said that the camon C9 would have a dual front camera setup and a fingerprint scanner however that turned out to be false, now it is rumored that the Tecno Camon C9 will come with an eye scanner which allows you to encrypt and unlock your phone with your eyes.

Airtel Introduces N200 For 2GB, N500 For 4GB Data Plan BUT...

In a bid to offer cheap data plans to Nigerians, Airtel has introduced two new cheap plans(N200 for 2GB and N500 for 6GB) however there's a catch.

Due to the fact that these new plans are so cheap, Airtel has attached a few strings to it - You are only allowed to use it on their 2G network!! And you don't someone to tell you just how slow 2G network is.

If you're not discouraged by the condition, you can go ahead and get these data plans by dialing *482#. The N200 plan lasts for 14 days and the N500 plans lasts for 28 days.

Do we still people that use java phones like Nokia 2700 or C3 because those are the kind of phones that these plans are most suited for.

New Whatsapp Feature Let's You Quote Messages

Over the past few months, Whatsapp has seen a lot of new features from documents sharing to end-to-end encryption to the addition of bold and italics text format and just yesterday I told you whatsapp would be getting GIF support real soon and now, a new feature that allows you to quote messages have been included.

The new feature is available for both person-to-person chat and group chats. It is quite easy to use.
All you have to do is long-press on the message you want to quote, when  you do this, you'll see a REPLY button at the top of your screen right next to the STAR icon. Click on it and the message you want to quote will show up and there'll be a box for you to type your reply.

When you send the reply, it will show up in the conversation with the quoted message attached on top of it, along with the sender’s color-coded name.
This feature is more useful in group chats where a lot of people are chatting all at once so you can easily quote the message you want to reply to avoid confusion.

Google To Announce Final Name Of Android N In Few Weeks

Sometime in march, Google officially released the Android N Developer preview and since then, people have been wondering what Google will call Android N(this year's android version).

A couple of weeks back, Google asked android users, or just anybody to submit their ideas for what they think the Android N’ would be called(I submitted Noodles *tongue out*).
 Last year, I said that Google might allows Android users decide Android N's Name, it’s not clear if Google will be going by the suggestions received from the public or if that was all just a mindless exercise, what’s clear is that the wait for the full name of Android N will soon be over.

Over the last couple of years, you probably would have realized that Google names its OS versions after sweet foods and snacks. For example, Android 4.4+ was named KitKat, Android 5.0+ was named Lollipop, Android 6.0+ was named Marshmallow and maybe, Android 7.0+ could be named Nutella, Noodles, Nachos, Nutmeg, Nuts, Neyyappam or any other sweet food’s name that starts with an N.

As I said earlier, the wait will soon be over as Google has announced via it’s Android twitter handle that the Name for Android N will be revealed in a few weeks time.

Whatsapp Will Be Supporting GIFs Soon

In recently years, Emojis have proved to be a better way to share expressions. Every social app supports emojis and just last week, 72 new Emojis were added to the line-up.

GIFs on the hand, express way more than emojis. Most times, it is considered to be the best way to have conversations on the internet.

If you don't really fancy typing and emojis are becoming boring to you, GIFs could be the answer to having a more lively conversation.

Facebook currently supports GIFs and they work better through URLs (links). It is rumored that WhatsApp will be having same feature very soon.

The new feature was first spotted on @WABetainfo, a Twitter account that keeps track of new features in the WhatsApp beta update. The account stated that WhatsApp version 2.16.7.1 will automatically embed GIFs from links into conversations and Auto-Play them just like how Facebook works with GIFs.

Unfortunately, GIFs will only Auto-Play via links as such, sharing GIFs directly will display it as an image.

There's no specific word as to when this update will be made available on the platform, what’s more important is that the feature will be hitting WhatsApp soon as it is already in the beta stage.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Injustice Edition Is Quite Expensive

A couple of months back, Samsung launched its 2016 flagship smartphones; the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Last month, Samsung launched the Injustice Edition of the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Although there was no change in the specs of the Injustice edition (except for a few customization to the UI), the design was modified to an extent. The injustice(batman) edition has two colors in it’s design; Black and Gold. Other form of its design looks pretty much same.

During the launching, Samsung shared information about the phone, Samsung also stated that a Gear VR will be included in every pack of the Injustice edition.

Pricing of the batman-themed Samsung S7 Edge is gradually surfacing online and they are overly expensive!

In Russia, the regular Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge sells for around $770. However, the Injustice edition of same Galaxy S7 Edge goes for around $1,250.

In Indonesia, pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Injustice edition are currently being taken and it costs a little under $1,140.
Even though the Samsung S7 Edge Injustice Edition comes with a Gear VR, the price difference is quite too much owing to the fact that a gear VR costs just $99.99.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has moved from rumor to fact. The device is meant for those that want a device suitable for outdoor activities and it will be released through AT&T on June 10.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is a more robust version of the Galaxy S7 flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will go on sale June 10 exclusively through AT&T. It is available in Camo Green, Titanium Gray and Sandy Gold.

The S7 Active has a very impressive battery, coming in at 4,000 mAh. That's 400 mAh larger than the S7 Edge battery.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED with a QHD resolution, making it the same screen as this year's Galaxy S7.

See The First Live Images Of Tecno Camon C9

It's no longer news that Tecno is planning to add a new device to its camon line-up. In a few weeks, Tecno would be launching a successor to last year's Camon C8.

In a previous post I wrote about the Tecno Camon C9, I said it might come with a dual front camera setup and a fingerprint scanner however in the live images I'm sharing today, I don't see neither a dual camera nor a finger print scanner.

Also, Tecno has changed their design game as the Tecno Camon C9 is expected to come with a slimmer(7mm to be precise) and premium design.

Going by the Leaked images of the Tecno Camon C9, both the front and back camera us placed in the centre and the front camera is equipped with a wide-range angle shooting meaning you can take of larger groups of people with the front camera.

The Tecno Camon C9 is rumored to come a 13MP front camera and a 13MP back camera with a dedicated camera button by the side.

The Tecno Camon C9 is said to be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Tecno's HiOS over the top. The Tecno Camon C9 will PROBABLY be coming in three colours; Champagne gold, Sandstone black and Pearl White.

The Tecno Camon C9 is expected to launch this month. I guess we should all keep our fingers crossed till then.

Facebook Removes Chat From Mobile Site, Force Users To Use Messenger

It is becoming really obvious that Facebook wants all its users to start using its messenger app.

On Friday June 3, Devin Coldewey of TechCrunch reported that Facebook is currently working to remove messaging from its mobile website pushing users to use the messenger app instead.

According to the report, clicking on the chat button MAY result in a message telling you that "your conversations are moving Messenger" and that “soon you’ll only be able to view your messages from Messenger”.
 You can close this notice and continue to your messages - For now. However very soon, you won't be able to move past this notice and your only choice would be to install the messenger app.

I tried checking my messages on the mobile website and I didn't see the notice instead I was just adviced to install the messenger app.

I'm a bit worried because I stopped using the Facebook mobile app just because I didn't want to install the messenger app. Now, Zuckerberg is planning to remove messaging from the Facebook mobile website too, would I have to quit Facebook all together or just succumb and install the messenger app(I hope not!)?

72 New Emojis Are Coming To Your Phone

Emojis have changed the way we chat and they have added a bit of  feeling to our conversations.
Personally, I can't reply three messages without including an Emoji, I believe it makes the communication much more fun and engaging.

The Unicode Consortium, the body that controls and approves universal software standards for letters and other characters, has approved 72 new emoji set to be released later this month.

While many of the newly approved emojis are similar to existing designs and include items like new hand symbols and facial expressions, there are a few interesting additions that are worth mentioning.

Some of the more new emoji additions include:

• Clown Face
• Lying Face
• Drooling Face
• Nauseated Face
• Man In Suit
• Shrug
• Face Palm
• Pregnant Woman
• Man Dancing
• Selfie
• Handshake
• Fist Bump(I needed this, I always use the punch emoji whenever I wanted to Fist bump)

For animals, we have;

• Deer
• Rhinoceros
• Gorilla
• Eagle
• Duck
• Owl
• Lizard
• Shark

And the foodies, some of the newly approved food emojis include;

• Avocado
• Potato (Have I ever told you how much I love potatoes?)
• Carrot
• Cucumber
• Bacon

These are really cool emojis and they will be coming to your phones very soon. Expect them in your whatsapp, Messenger, Telegram and other Instant Messaging apps soon.
