End-To-End Encryption Coming To Facebook Messenger Soon

Very recently, Whatsapp started securing chats with end-to-end encryption.
Now, it appears Facebook would also be bringing end-to-end encryption to the messenger app.

End-To-End Encryption Coming To Facebook Messenger
According to The Guardian, the new security feature will be available in the next few months. The end-to-end encryption is meant to keep you conversations private, away from hackers and even Facebook itself.

The Guardian also hints that the new end-to-end encryption will not come in default, instead users will be allowed to pick if they want the extra security or not.

The reason for this is because Facebook also plans to build new machine learning features into the messenger app and the end-to-end encryption would be getting in the way of this.
So users have to decide if they want airtight security or better Artificial Intelligence.

Personally, I think I'll prefer better AI because I don't really have FBI-level conversations so the end-to-end encryption is not really needed.
