Digital Assistants are Application programs designed to make things easier for us, the things a Digital Assistant can do for you are just... Unlimited, from taking notes for example you can tell 'her' to remind you to get something from the store when next you go shopping.
It can also serve as an alarm you can tell it to wake you up in two minutes and it would!
They can also work as a unit converter.
There are a lot of Digital Assistants out there but I'd list just five of them because they are the "BIG 5" owned by big tech companies.
We've got Android's Google now
Apple's Siri
Microsoft's Cortana
We also have Facebook's newly introduced M
Oh! And lastly we have Amazon's Alexa
If you look closely at the symbol of alexa you will notice that it bears a striking resemblance to Cortana, but I wouldn't be going into that.
Allow me to stop there because if I were to list all the things you could do with a Digital Assistant I might end up not doing the tutorial anymore. I just wanted you to have an idea of what a digital assistant is, at least for those of us that don't know.
Now, to the main reason for writing this post.
Personally, of all the Digital Assistants I prefer Google Now, but since we all have our different choices some might like Cortana better and would like to get Cortana on their Android devices and some like me just want get a taste of the two worlds.
There are however a few limitations placed on the Android version of Cortana, for example you can not wake Cortana up by saying 'Hey, Cortana'.
If you can live with that, then let's get on with it!
To Get Cortana on your Android phones first download This file, Install and run it.
You'd need a Microsoft account, if you have one Sign in and if you don't, Create a new account.
After signing in, set up your Cortana on your phone and that's all. You would have installed Cortana on your Android device.
Note: The app is still in its Beta testing stage so there are still a couple of bugs and glitches but it's nothing you can't endure.
