What is Black Friday, When is Black Friday?

Black Friday... Lately, you must have heard this term a lot but what does it really mean?

Is it a day when the Sky turns black(like an eclipse) ? 😕

***Singing Hell to the naw naw by Bishop bullwinkle***

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving(US).

Thanksgiving is a national holiday in America when families come together to share food(which mostly include turkey), enjoy parades and watch American football!

Black Friday is often referred to as the best day of the year to go shopping, but I've got to say it ain't gon' be easy.

On this day, various stores offer unimaginable price slashes across a lot of products(if not all). The sale usually last for a day only but lately we've been hearing terms such as 'black Friday weekend' by Amazon which offers a couple of limited time discounts across a handful of products.

Black Friday is usually a long day as stores open as early as 6 am to welcome the anticipating Black Friday shoppers who are probably already waiting around the windows.

Jumia brought this 'frenzy' to Nigeria back in 2013 but didn't record much success at the time because we were all new to it, but 2014's Black Friday sales was hot! as we were already prepared and anticipating it(some even had a shopping list). But last year's bBlack Friday was off the charts, the prices were too good to be true...a friend of mine bought a brand new infinix hot 2 for N8750 on jumia.

November is here again and Black Friday is just around the corner (Nov. 25) so if you missed last year's sale or you participated last year and would love to go again then start getting ready because report state that this year's Black Friday sale is expected to be the BIGGEST EVER!

Jumia already started its Black Friday sales since Nov. 14 but a lot would still happen.

Me, I'm already writing my list I don't know about you?

That's true sef, **adds one more to the list**

IPhone 7 Official Price In Nigeria

Those of you who have been waiting to hear the price of the newly launched iPhone 7.

It is now available in Nigeria at a price that is considered to be the same as two plots of land in Ogun state.
I was just window shopping on Jumia and the iPhone 7 popped under the 'recommended for you' list and the price made me wonder why they recommended for me(who told them I had that kind of money 😕😕) .

The version that showed up was the 128GB variant and it costs N473,700.

I checked another for other variants but realized they only had the 128GB variant, I checked on Konga and the 32GB variant goes for N430,000.

Nigeria Remains Forgotten As PayPal Allow Zimbabweans Receive Funds via PayPal

In a recently released list, PayPal ranked Nigeria 3rd in Mobile shopping(even more than USA), India was 2nd and China 1st.
Also, Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa with over 200 million citizens. Despite all these facts, PayPal has decided to snub Nigeria and move over to Zimbabwe to allow Zimbabweans receive funds via PayPal.

PayPal in Nigeria

In 2014, PayPal launched it services in Nigeria at the same time it was also launched in Zimbabwe and a few other African Countries. At the time of launch, PayPal services in these countries were limited as users could only send funds but weren't not able to receive.

This action by PayPal killed a lot of business ideas and is currently affecting the customer base of many Nigerian businesses. But we had no choice, we had to live with it.

But something happened a couples of days ago, PayPal enabled the receive fund features in Zimbabwe allowing them to send and receive funds through PayPal.

I have no idea why PayPal would do something like that. In business, you stay more committed to your larger customer base but that is not happening in this case.

On the bright side, PayPal enabling the receive funds option in Zimbabwe could mean that Nigeria would be next. Let's see how things turn out.

Amazon Pulls Out Hoverboards Over Safety Fears

Amazon which is one of the largest online stores in the world has begun pulling out Hoverboards from their stock due to fears of fire caused by the self balancing scooters a.k.a hoverboards.

Some of the hoverboards available on the online store have now disappeared and the site now warns that for the time being, they are not recommending any hoverboards until they are proven to be safe.

Hoverboards wrecking havoc in cities

According to a hoverboard seller, swagway, the online store(Amazon) required that hoverboard manufacturers provide documents showing that their hoverboards "are compliant to applicable safely standards" with additional emphasis to the batteries and chargers.

The gadgets which are one of the most hyped and 'must-have' gadgets of the year have been wrecking havoc in a lot of cities lately.
Last week, a hoverboard exploded at a mall in Washington, USA. Although no one was hurt, the incident made major headlines worldwide.
A woman claimed that a hoverboard explosion destroyed her home.
A man in Alabama also said his hoverboard caught on fire while he was riding it.

Currently, hoverboards are banned in a lot cities around the world even popular Rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested for riding a hoverboard.

I guess I'll just forget about buying a hoverboard and just get an 'Okada' instead... Lol

How Was Your Black Friday Experience? Good Deal Or Big Scam?

How Was Your Black Friday Experience? Good Deal Or Big Scam?
According to a survey conducted by me, this year's black friday was the biggest and most anticipated in the history of Nigerian black fridays.

One of the reasons being because more people knew about it and prepared for it.
Even though this was the biggest black friday sale in Nigeria, a lot of people were left disappointed.

It all started with Jumia's black friday flash sale for the infinix hot 2 which was obviously the most anticipated of all deals.
The flash sale started by 12 am yesterday morning, about ten minutes before the sale began I was on jumia just going through, trying to keep an eye and see how it was going to go down. It was peaceful and smooth until the clock hit 12, then the worst happened. None of the jumia pages was loading, then I tried using the mobile app and had no luck either, I believed it was an error in my network connection so I tried loading a different website on another tab and it went loaded smoothly.
It got to a point when I got an error message whenever I tried loading the Jumia website telling me to check the spelling and try again.

I headed to konga and I could barely notice any difference in price, it was almost as if nothing was going on.
The only price slashes I saw were mostly fashion products.

This was my black friday experience, how was yours?
