Hey people I'm sorry I haven't been posting as much as I used to, My schedule was a little tight, you know I'm still a student right?

I constantly receive emails, calls and texts from people asking me questions about rooting an android phone. What does it mean to root a phone, How to root android phones, Risks involved in rooting, Advantages of rooting?????

If you are one of these people, read on! because i will be telling you all you need to know about rooting, the cons and pros.

What Does It Mean To Root A Phone

Rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphone, tablets and other devices running on the android OS(operating system) to attain a special privileged control(aka Root Access) over certain areas of the android's subsystems.

Rooting gives android users the ability to alter or replace android system apps and settings, and run certain special applications that require administrative-level control and also perform certain operations that are blocked to a normal user such as changing of fonts, changing of Custom ROMs and many others.

Rooting provides a more advanced control over your android device such as modifying and deleting system files. Rooting a device would also install super-user application which supervises applications that are granted root or superuser rights by requesting approval from the user before granting said permissions.

How To Root Android Phones

There are numerous rooting programs which you can use in rooting your android devices such as kingoroot, framaroot, towel root.
I will try to explain how to root using towelroot and kingo root.

How To Root Using TowelRoot

Towel root is one of the easiest methods to root your android phones. It doesn't need you to install and run any software on your PC, it doesn't even need a PC. All you have to do is install and root the app on your device. Towelroot roots "almost all" android devices.

To use Towelroot you have to first allow your device to install apps from unknown sources. This can be done by clicking on Settings>Security> Unknown Sources. Now you’ll be able to download apps from outside the Google Play store.

Now go to Towelroot.com in your phone’s browser and click on the Lambda symbol.

How To Use Kingoroot

Kingo root is equally easy to use but requires PC.
To use kingo root, first check if your phone is compatible.

Then download kingo root on your PC and enable USB debugging on your device

Run the program on your PC and connect your Android to your PC with a USB cord. The program should detect your device and a message asking if you’d like to root will appear. Select “root” and wait. Kingo will only take a few minutes to grant super user privileges.

Risks Involved In Rooting

VOIDING WARRANTY Manufacturer s can take rooting as an excuse to revoke warranty. But bear it mind that you can always unroot your device, so if you want to return your phone back to the manufacturer for repairs all you have to do is flash the original backup ROM you made and no one will know it was ever rooted.

BRICKING YOUR PHONE - A phone is said to be Bricked when it no longer functions due to misconfiguration, a corrupted firmware or a hardware problem and is only as useful as a brick.

A rooted phone runs a higher risk of been bricked due to access to the phone's firmware(its highly unlikely for a non-rooted phone to get bricked).
So when you over-tamper with your phone's firmware you run great risk of bricking your phone. This can be avoided by been cautious of the things you do, If you want to install a custom ROM on your phone or perform any other administrative actions make sure you read the tutorial thoroughly, make your sure its for your exact phone model and also read other people's comments.

After reading this article you will find that rooting your phone is cool but also has its risks involved, But as they say "no risk no reward".

This post is not intended to persuade you to root your phone rather I want to shed light on rooting because a lot if people just hear the term and don't know what it mean.

Disclaimer : Rooting your phone is a choice. So I will not be held responsible for any damage you might encounter in the process of rooting.
