Happy Birthday Google! Google's 17th Anniversary

Google, The Search Engine Giant celebrated its 17th birthday today (September 27th 2015) but the date has been changing over the years.

  • September 8(2003)
  • September 7 (2004)
  • September 26 (2005)

But since 2006 they stuck with September 27th (guess they finally remember birthday!)
Every year since 2004, Google celebrates its birthday by placing a doodle(sketch) on its homepage. This year is no different as I opened Google this morning and found this :

Google 2015 birthday doodle

This year's doodle describes the early, humble beginning of Google. The doodle features a 'bulky' plastic PC (Who else remembered this?), a lava lamp and the first ever Google homepage which they said 'worked better than it looked'.
The creators said: "For our 17th birthday we offer a glimpse into our humble beginnings, when branded hockey jerseys were cool and Savage Garden had a number-one single"

Along side the doodle, a few pictures were also released and notes explaining them were also written.

Google's first server made up of toy building blocks

Yea, I know you're thinking 'What the hell is this Mes?' I did too, turns out it's the first server.
And this was what Google had to say about it:

Sometimes you just gotta work with what you have, that's how you end up with a server made up of toy building blocks

Google's first board room

What do we call this a board room?? :/

What's more of a relic from the bygone Era, the lava Lamborghini the computer monitor?

If you ask me, I say the computer monitor!

Google's first homepage with 1998 Google logo

Now, this is the first ever Google homepage!

Google's first homepage (it worked better than it looked)

Google's first office was in their university dorm room

This was what got me really motivated! The first Google office a.k.a Sergey and Larry's University dorm. I can't believe the almighty Google started in a university hostel.

inside Google's first office, also known as Larry and Sergey's Stanford dorm rooms. They had to find alternative arrangements when the Stanford IT department complained they were sucking up all the bandwidth

Finally, I want to say Happy birthday to Google!! Sorry I'm 71 minutes late, I just wasn't sure what day you were going to celebrate your birthday this year .
