New Malware Discovered In Google Play Store

All security agencies will tell you to always installs your apps from the official store to avoid malwares. When apps on Google play store begin to have malwares, that's when you truly have no where to run to.

A new Malware called 'Dress-code" has been discovered in Google Playstore despite it being the most secured Android app store.

No one knows how this malware quietly sneaked into Google Playstore but it is reported have infected more than 40 applications on Google playstore and more than 400 applications on unofficial app stores.

What this type of malware does is, it creates a botnet which allows the attackers to use infected devices to route traffic. In the case of DressCode, Check Point says, the hackers only used it to generate false ad clicks and traffic, thus collecting ad revenue.
However, it stated that a botnet can be used for much more serious attacks, such as gaining access to company servers and files.

Even the Dresscode malware is used for a seemingly harmless purpose, you should still watch out for it because it could be used for more dangerous purpose if the attacker wants.

To avoid all forms of malware, always make sure that your Android device has the latest security patch installed and always be careful of what you download in apps store.
